Angela Kolettis (née Page), 90 (2/14/1934), of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Angela was a loving wife and mother, an adoring grandmother and a loyal friend. She was married to her husband (late Dr. John George Kolettis) for 40 years prior to his passing in 1999. She is survived by her children: Georgia Kolettis (George Tanasijevich); Dr. George Kolettis (Keri Kolettis); and Maria Spears (Jeff Spears) and by her seven grandchildren:John and Christina Tanasijevich; John, Bruce and Georgia Kolettis; and Angela "Page" and Georgia Spears; her sister, Amelia Page; and her cousin Denise Caloger. Angela was the daughter of Christ Page, who emigrated from Epidavros, Greece, and Georgia (Bebas) Page of Chicago, and sister of Constance Page, all of whom predeceased her. Angela, affectionately known as Cookie, grew up in Chicago where she attended Amundsen High School and Northwestern University where she was elected May Queen for the annual Spring pageant. She graduated with a degree in Communications from Northwestern in 1957 and remained an active member of the University's alumni association. She was the second generation of her family, following her mother and uncle, to attend Northwestern and was proud to see one of her daughters and two of her grandchildren carry on the tradition and attend the University. After spending much of her adult life and raising a family in Merrillville, IN, where her husband, John, had a thriving practice as a family physician, she moved back to Chicago following his passing to be near her mother and sisters. Angela was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She also supported the arts as a member of The Art Institute of Chicago, and The Women's Association of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Angela had a talent and love for interior design, the stock market and politics. Angela's primary love, focus and passion was her family for which she was the cornerstone and backbone. Her devotion as Mom and Yia Yia was infinite and unparalleled. She lovingly and willingly provided comfort, support and advice no matter the time, day and night. Being close to her grandchildren carried special importance to her as their Yia Yia. She loved to teach them all she knew about investing, send them comic snippets from periodicals and share her Yia Yia jokes with them. She travelled across the globe to Singapore and across the country to Boca Raton, San Francisco and New York City to be with and share in the lives of her children and grandchildren. In the words of her grandchildren, "We can't imagine life without Yia Yia. She was the most caring, comforting, and wise person who always knew what to do. She was an integral part of our daily lives and words cannot express our love for her." Although Angela's passing will leave a huge void in the lives of her family members and friends, they will forever cherish the countless memories of the time they spent with her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Angela's name to Visual Snow Initiative or Colitis Foundation or Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. May her memory be Eternal!
