James L. Biek, 92, passed away on March 25, 2025, in Parker, Colorado.
Jim was born on November 2, 1932 in Dowagiac, the son of Leo and Lorraine Biek, and attended Dowagiac High School and Purdue University, where he was the president of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity chapter. He went on to serve in the Army, after which he completed an MBA at Northwestern University. Jim spent his entire career at Lincoln Electric Company in Cleveland, Ohio, where he met his wife, Jean, whom he married in 1960. They lived in Shaker Heights, Ohio where he was active as a Scoutmaster, a volunteer for numerous community organizations and among the Cleveland-area Pi Kappa Alpha alumni. Later in life, Jean and Jim moved to Colorado to be nearer their daughter Sally.
Jim and Jean are survived by their four children, John (Christina Norton) of Oak Park, Illinois, David (the late Kathryn) of Orono, Minnesota, Sally (Kirk) Adams of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Jim (Marie-Therese Ross) of London, England, their nine grandchildren: Michael Biek, Kayla Biek, Ryan Biek, Kelsey (James) Adams Lowrey, Mariel Adams, Riley Adams, Avery Adams, Lucie Biek, Claire Biek, and a great-granddaughter, Margot Lowrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, 210 N Front St, Dowagiac. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Dowagiac. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, Dowagiac.
