Jean Dash Biek, 86, passed away on September 24, 2019, in Parker, Colorado.
She was born on August 13, 1933 in West Newton, Pennsylvania, to William and Anna Dash, and attended Wilson College and graduate school at Yale University. She worked as a teacher in Cleveland, Ohio and there met her husband, James L. Biek, a native of Dowagiac, whom she married in 1960. They lived in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and raised four children there. Jean was a great believer in education and loved to read, travel and learn new things. She enjoyed buying pieces of furniture second-hand and refinishing them to look beautiful. She was always active in her local church and interested in local and national politics. Later in life, Jean and Jim moved to Colorado to be nearer their daughter Sally.
Jim and Jean are survived by their four children, John (Tina Norton) of Oak Park, Illinois, David (the late Kathryn) of Orono, Minnesota, Sally (Kirk) Adams of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Jim (Marie-Therese Ross) of London, England, their nine grandchildren: Michael Biek, Kayla Biek, Ryan Biek, Kelsey (James) Adams Lowrey, Mariel Adams, Riley Adams, Avery Adams, Lucie Biek, Claire Biek, and a great-granddaughter, Margot Lowrey. Jean is also survived by her sister-in-law, Pat Dash, and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, 210 N Front St, Dowagiac.
