Angelica Carolina Porto Quintela, 79, of Danbury, died peacefully on Friday, October, 4th, at Danbury Hospital. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life.
Angelica was born in São Gonçalo Rio de Janeiro on September 9,1945 to the late Miguel Canelas and Legnar de Sá Porto. She was the oldest of three siblings Miguel Porto and Angela Freire. Angelica was a free spirit who enjoyed meeting new people and taking the time to really get to know them. Her curious social nature led her to pursue a master's degree in psychology where she practiced in Brazil. Angelica met Edison Quintela, first as next-door neighbors in the same apartment building which quickly turned into a romantic relationship. They were married for 47 years. In 1985 they moved to United States in pursuit of a better life after having their only son Michael.
Starting over in a foreign country, she worked hard and ultimately was able to establish her own business. Angel's Cleaning was successful for 34 years. Coming from a very close family, Angelica helped emigrate her extended family to the United States so they too could have a better future. One of her real joys in life came when her two grandchildren were born. With great pride and pleasure, she helped care for Micaiah and Kingston.
Angelica is survived by her loving husband Edison Quintela, her son Michael Quintela, and his wife Jennifer Perec; her grandchildren Micaiah and Kingston Quintela; her brother Miguel Porto and his wife Neuza; and her sister Angela Freire; as well as many nieces and nephews.
