Anissa Sparlin, 53, sadly passed away on March 22nd, 2025, after a lengthy battle with MS. She was born to Peggy Reed (Vialpando) and Mike Reed on October 13th, 1971, in Laramie, WY. Anissa attended Denver Lutheran High School, where she met her best friend and husband of 30 years, Daniel Jay Sparlin. The two were high school sweethearts and married on September 9th, 1995. They lived in Arvada for 22 years before moving to their dream home in the Colorado mountains near the Cripple Creek area.
Anissa worked in various roles throughout her career, including the Bridal Center, where she was recognized in their Denver guidebook as one of the highest-rated service providers. She later spent many years with the Noble/Sysco Company, where she held positions ranging from receptionist/phone operator to head of the mailroom. She eventually became a bid estimator, overseeing commercial equipment installations for multimillion-dollar projects at major professional sports arenas. These were among her proudest career accomplishments, along with being her husband's biggest advocate and partner in his career, which they shared together in many ways. Beyond her professional life, Anissa found great joy and love in volunteering many years for the Colorado Beagle Rescue. She deeply loved the people, the Beagles, and the various hounds she helped save. Anissa truly cherished this work more than anything!
Anissa enjoyed many activities and hobbies, but sports were among her greatest passions. In her younger years, she loved tap dancing, and as she got older, she became deeply involved in bowling, even participating in several bowling leagues. She and Dan loved camping with their dogs, and cherished their mountain getaways to Redstone, Colorado. Anissa also enjoyed visiting her father's donkeys at their home and attending the Cripple Creek's Donkey Derby Days.
In her daily routine, Anissa always made time to watch her favorite sports-college and professional. She was an avid fan of the Avalanche and the Rockies, followed the Broncos, and eagerly anticipated March Madness. She also took pride in occasionally showing off her Nebraska Cornhuskers attire. Anissa loved reading and going through cookbooks and cooking magazines. She was also a devoted reader of her prayer portals and daily devotions. Her Christian faith and relationship with her Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. Anissa was also a dedicated prayer warrior for so many.
Above all, Anissa cherished and valued her marriage and deep love she shared with her husband, Dan. They were each other's rock and stronghold. Family was incredibly important to her, and she treasured all the family visits. She would look forward to the stories that were shared and the memories that were retold and/or newly created. Anissa's laughter was incredibly infectious and so full of joy, it would make everyone around her laugh even harder.
Anissa is survived by her loving husband, Dan, as well as their four fur babies: Katy, Jake, Murphy, & Lacy. She is also survived by her parents, Peggy Johnson (Craig) and Mike Reed (Sandy); her sister, Courtney Mascarello (Rick); her mother-in-law, Linda Starke; her father-in-law, Jay Sparlin (Melissa); her sister-in-law, Jeanette Blanco (Fredy); and her nieces (nephew), Brittney (Garrett), Marisa, Aza-Rae, & Havlyn. Anissa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Trujillo, Vialpando, & Johnson, as well as six of their beloved fur babies.
In honor of Anissa, the family will hold a small private celebration of life this coming Summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help support the Colorado Beagle Rescue at www.coloradobeaglerescue.org.
