Anita Ekstrom Obituary

Anita K. Ekstrom, 67, of Brook, passed away Thursday morning, December 15, 2022, at her mother's home with family by her side after a short battle with cancer.
Anita was born July 4, 1955 in Rensselaer, to Norman L. and Pauline (Whaley) Ekstrom. She was a lifelong resident of Brook. Anita was a 1973 graduate of South Newton High School. She worked at United Telephone Company and had a lengthy career at Perk Pak Corporation. She was also employed at Earl's Dining and Catering as well as by South Newton School Corporation's Food Services until her retirement.
Anita enjoyed participating in bowling leagues, cooking for family and friends, mowing, reading, Christmas decorating, vacationing at Sunset Beach, NC, and most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Brook United Methodist Church, and the Brook Community Meals team.
Anita is survived by her mother Pauline Ekstrom, sister, Marilyn "Flipper" Ekstrom both of Brook, brothers, Ed (Lisa) "Toad" Ekstrom of Kentland and Michael "Fat Man" Ekstrom of Brook, niece Melody Ekstrom of Chicago, IL, nephew, Justin Ekstrom of Kokomo, IN as well as a host of friends and family.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 4-6pm (CST) at Brook United Methodist Church, Brook, Indiana, with funeral service 11am (CST) Thursday, December 22, 2022 in the church with Pastor Matt Baughman officiating. Interment to follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Brook, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Brook Community Meals fund.
