It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anita Miera, age 70, on the evening of July 27, 2025.
Anita was born in Taos, NM on July 30, 1954. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a loving, kind-hearted, strong woman. She loved her family; they meant everything to her. Anita made friends easily. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, give advice or just listen. She was silly and often stubborn, but whether she was spending time in the mountains, or caregiving for others, she, without a doubt was a wonderful woman.
In her younger years, Anita would have been found working during the winter and summer seasons at Taos Ski Valley. She enjoyed hard work and was not afraid to get her hands dirty.
Anita is preceded in death by her son, Leroy R. Herrera Jr. Also, preceded in death by her parents, Palemon and Flossie Miera, brothers: Andy (Romaine) Miera and Nestor (Kim) Miera.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Alicia (Keith) Phillips, her long –time partner, Estevan Tafoya and his two (2) sons, Stevie and Ronnie Tafoya. Also, her brothers: Thomas (Corrine) Miera, Pancho Miera, Harry Miera; sisters: Jeanette (Johnny) Olonia, Mary Miera, and many nieces and nephews; which includes her special nephew Juan Olonia who she loved and adored and was so proud of.
Anita will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A service will be held on August 8, 2025 at 10AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A graveside service will be held at the Miera Family Cemetery in Taos, NM following the service.
