Anita Joy Miller, age 43, of Penrose, CO, passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2025, at Penrose Main Hospital, after a sudden cardiac arrest. Anita was born January 26th, 1982, in Belize, Central America, to Daniel and Mary Etta Miller. She spent her childhood in Florida and Arkansas.
Anita passionately loved God and cared for people. As a young person, she did Voluntary Service at Hillcrest Home, Harrison, AR and Mountain View Nursing Home, Aroda, VA, where she cared for the elderly and the disabled. Later she excelled in customer service at the FedEx Headquarters. When she moved to Cañon City, Anita became the first New Horizons Thrift Store assistant manager. On September 29, 2007, she married Tyrone Miller.
Anita loved helping others succeed, generously giving of her time and resources. Her organizing skills blessed many people beyond her family. Alongside Tyrone, she coordinated many weddings. With a group of friends she established Cañon City's annual Holiday Pop-Up Shop. More recently, she helped organize The Living Room, a safe place for women to share, heal, and grow.
Anita prioritized family. Whether it was running children to and from school, sports and dance lessons, cultivating friendships, or investing in her marriage and children, she gave her all with joy, courage, and deep compassion.
Anita is survived by her husband of 17 years, Tyrone Miller, and their children, Logan Tyreece, Zachery Kade, Macy Janae, and Allison Joy, of Penrose, CO; her parents, Daniel and Mary Etta Miller, of Cañon City; her brothers and their families: Arlynn and Nina Miller, Davian Emmanuel, Trinity Zahne, Alisha Nicole, of Cañon City; Dean and Barbara Jean Miller, Weston Dean, Wynndon Durrell, Wilson Denver, Jeneva Elizabeth, of Harrison, AR; Steven and Karen Miller, Cameron, Tyler, Chase, Lincoln, Jackson, of Harrison, AR; her in-laws, Andrew and Frieda Miller; Kevin and Sheree Stauffer, Charlotte and Tessa; Arlin and Racine Roth, Cassidy and Alyssa; all of Cañon City.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 6th, 2025, at 3:00 pm, at River City Vineyard Church, 245 S. Raynolds Ave., Cañon City, CO.
The Funeral service will be held Friday, March 7th, at 10:00 am, at Pathfinder Event Center, 6655 State Highway 115, Florence, CO.
Her deepest desire was to know and love Jesus Christ. Though we grieve her loss, we thank God for the life she lived and rejoice that she is in the presence of the God she loved.
