Anita Yeats, 88, passed away on February 27,2025. Born in Lancaster County, PA, to Clyde and Marjorie Herr, Anita moved to Pompton Plains in 1965, where she became a beloved member of the community and a member of the First Reformed Church. Despite the obstacles Anita encountered throughout her life, her devotion to her children remained steadfast. She demonstrated a strength that surpassed what anyone could ever conceive.
After dedicating over 30 years to Star Line Optical, she embraced retirement in her 70s. Anita's love for sports was unmatched, particularly her support for the NY Mets and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Evenings spent gardening and perfecting her counter cross stitch were complemented by afternoons lost in books at PV Park, which she called her "happy place." Family vacations to Ocean City, NJ, brought joy and laughter, where her cherished meals at Campbell's and indulgent cones from A La Mode Ice Cream created lasting memories. Known famously for her apple pies, she lovingly passed on her prized recipe, ensuring her legacy would live on in the hearts-and kitchens-of her family.
Anita is survived by her sons, John and his wife Terry, Douglas and his wife Geri, and Daniel and his wife Carmen; her grandsons, Andrew and Justin and her great granddaughter, Addilyn. Anita was predeceased by her brother, William Herr.
The family will receive visitors from 2 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Scanlan's. A funeral service will conclude the visitation at 3:30 pm. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Anita's love for owls, can be made to Hungry Owl Project. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Anita, please visit our floral store.
