Ann Langtry Crawshaw
December 30,1942 to August 9, 2024
Ann Crawshaw, often referred to as Lana, was an independent, adventuresome, and courageous woman who gathered friends throughout her lifetime. Lana was born in Allegheny Pennsylvania, and she was an only child. She was vision impaired at birth and lost all vision in both eyes at a very early age. Her mother died when Lana was 15.
She came to Clovernook Home for the Blind in North College Hill, Ohio in the 1970’s and worked there for over 30 years. She was recognized for her excellent work.
Lana refused to let her blindness keep her from living life to its fullness. She was especially determined not to be lonely, so she eagerly engaged the people she met and made numerous friends. Nothing ever seemed out-of-bounds-for her. This included going to movies, concerts, sporting events, dancing, festivals, white water rafting, swimming, and exercising at the YMCA. She was a lector and greeter at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, and she welcomed parishioners with gusto. She loved being with people, talking, telling jokes, listening to sounds, and experiencing places with energy. Over the years, Lana developed a large support network of people who loved her and wanted to help her live the independent life she chose.
At the time of her death, she lived at Mt. Healthy Christian Retirement Village where she made new friends towards the end of her life. She died in the care of Hospice.
A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church on August 27, 2024, at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to St. Margaret Mary Church, Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, Mt. Healthy Christian Retirement Village, or Clovernook Home for the Blind.
