Ann Jean (Welsh) Hackett, age 91, of London, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, just one day after her birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering spirit. Born on June 4, 1934, in Urbana, Ohio, Ann was the cherished daughter of Robert and Mary (McGree) Welsh.
A proud 1952 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Urbana, Ann's journey through life was colored by remarkable relationships and boundless dedication. She met the love of her life, David Hackett Sr., shortly after graduation, and they joyfully wed in 1952. Together, they created a family that would become the centerpiece of Ann's life.
Ann dedicated many years of her professional life to Madison County Hospital, where she fostered enduring friendships and made a significant impact on the lives of those around her. Outside her career, Ann was deeply involved in her community, becoming a valued member of the Farm Bureau, Rosedale Harmony Club, and The American Heart Association. Her commitment to advocating for the rights and needs of others led her to volunteer tirelessly at the voting polls and to champion the cause of special education within the London City Schools.
A long-time member of St. Patrick's Church, Ann committed herself wholeheartedly to her faith. She served as a Eucharistic minister and volunteered in the church office, embodying the spirit of service that defined her character. Family gatherings brought her immense joy, and she remained an active participant in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, weaving a rich tapestry of family memories that will endure beyond her.
Ann is survived by her beloved children: David Hackett Jr., Mary Beth (Joy McFadden), Barbara (Mike) Lynch, William Hackett, and John (Amy) Hackett. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: David Lynch, Josh (Marlene) Hackett, Liz Lynch, Tyler Hackett, Spencer Hackett, JT Hackett, and Joseph Hackett, along with her great-grandchildren: Kimberlee, Reese, Davey, Colleen, and Boden. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Preceding Ann in death are her devoted husband, David Hackett Sr., her son Michael Hackett, her parents, brothers Bill, Joe, and Vincent Welsh, sister Mary Toy, and her great-grandson Kaiden.
To honor Ann's remarkable life, family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at St. Patrick's Parish Center, located at 61 South Union Street, London, Ohio, on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be held at St. Patrick's Church, commencing at 11:00 AM, and will be officiated by Fr. Dinovo. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, where Ann will be laid to rest among those she cherished.
