Ann Higginbotham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gray Memorial Chapel & Crematory from Dec. 11 to Dec. 13, 2025.
Ann Virginia Higginbotham (Rountree), a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, December 11, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
Born on February 23, 1951, in Ocilla, Georgia, Ann was the daughter of the late Roy and Nellie Davis Harris. She was also preceded in death by three sons, three daughters, two brothers, and one sister. Though she endured profound loss in her lifetime, her spirit remained steady, faith-filled, and full of grace.
Ann lived with an open mind and a free-spirited heart. She was kind, funny, intelligent, and determined-always ready with a warm smile, a word of encouragement, or a moment of wisdom. Her faith guided every step she took, and she loved God, her husband, and her family above all else. From Ann, those who knew her learned how not to be selfish, how to cherish what we have, and how to remain faithful to the world around us.
Her grandchildren and her mother-in-law brought her endless laughter, and her joy in them was boundless. Ann's love was unwavering-she supported others with a unique, uplifting, and anointed presence. She will forever be remembered as a spiritual woman whose warmth, resilience, and compassion flowed into every life she touched.
Ann is survived by her devoted husband, James Rountree; her daughters, Susan Vaughn, Frances Baer, Donna Lauer, Heather Kirklin, Amanda McNeal, and Lisa Kirklin. Joel Gibson; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; her brother, James Harris; along with many nephews, great-nephews, and extended family members who will continue to honor her legacy.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, December 12, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gray Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will follow on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Gray Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow at Harris Family Cemetery.
Ann Virginia Higginbotham (Rountree's) life was a testament to love, faith, and perseverance. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
