Ann S. Julius born in Kirkman, Iowa on December 17, 1938, passed away on April 14, 2024. Ann Julius was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Milred Ferry and her loving husband of 54 years, Dr. Clark E. Julius. She is survived by her children, Jamie (Gretchen) Julius, Kipp (Courtney) Julius and Jennifer Julius; her grandchildren, Kylie (Austin) Julius-Schumacher, William and Anders Julius; sister, Nancy Julienne Ferry; sister-in -law Meredith Smith; and many wonderful and loving nieces and nephews.
Ann graduated from Irwin High School in Iowa and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa. She taught Kindergarten, First and Second Grades in Iowa and Tennessee. Ann and Clark moved to Knoxville in 1971, where she was largely involved with the Dogwood Arts Festival for over 25 years serving as the long standing Folk Art Manager, Co-Chair in 1985, and was the beloved Dogwood Arts Festival Mascot, "Dogwoody" for many of those years. Ann was a consummate volunteer, donating her time and talents, giving to many different organizations and supporting the community. She has been a member of Concord United Methodist Church since 1973 where she served a term as President of the Methodist Women's Association. She was a Member of the Tennessee Quarterback club and on the LaTain McGhee Scholarship Committee. She was an avid Tennessee Fan for all Tennessee athletics, attending all football, men's and women's basketball, and many baseball/softball games when able. She will be fiercely missed by her family and fondly remembered by those fortunate enough to call her a friend.
The receiving of friends will be held at Concord United Methodist Church, 11020 Roane Drive in Farragut on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Concord UMC on Saturday April 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Darris Doyal officiating.
