Ann Kavanaugh, a native of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully early in the morning on June 4, 2025 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 79. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Bob" and Ruth "Toots" Kavanaugh. She was the oldest of three children and cherished her role as big sister. She had a close bond with her younger sister, Susan, and her much younger brother, Bob. One of Ann's favorite family stories-told and retold over the years with warmth and humor-was about the Christmas when she and Susan were convinced they were getting a puppy. To their surprise, they got a baby brother instead! That story became one of Ann's most beloved tales, a testament to the joy and laughter she brought into everyday life.

She attended St. Teresa Grade School and graduated from Catholic Central High School in Springfield before earning a degree in English from The College of Mount Saint Joseph and eventually making Cincinnati her lifelong home. After college, Ann began a remarkable 41 year career with Delta Airlines as a ticket agent. Her dedication and professionalism led her to help establish numerous ticket offices-her favorite being in Ireland, a country she held close to her heart.

Her love of travel was legendary. Ann spent years exploring the world and generously shared her Delta passes with family and friends so they, too, could experience the joy of travel. She especially loved introducing the world of travel to her beloved nieces and nephews - Sean, Lauren, Madison, and James- creating lifelong memories with them on trips to places like Yellowstone National Park and New York City. Her home reflected her adventures, filled with original works of art and mementos from across the globe.

A woman of deep and enduring faith, Ann was a long-standing member of Bellarmine Chapel, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. When the drive to Xavier University became too difficult, she transitioned to The Community of the Good Shepherd, continuing her spiritual journey. Ann also found deep peace and meaning attending retreats at the Abbey of Gethsemani, where she drew strength and inspiration from the contemplative writings of Thomas Merton. She also gave generously of her time and spirit as a volunteer at the Milford Retreat Center, helping to beautify the grounds by planting flowers and caring for the garden beds-always adding her personal touch of grace and care.

Ann knew how to fill a room with her big personality-there was never a dull moment when she was around. She was a great cook who also loved dining out and discovering new restaurants. Conversation at the dinner table was always lively to say the least, filled with cherished memories, playful teasing, and warmth. More than anything, Ann treasured time spent with family and friends-always bringing joy, generosity, and her unmistakable spark to every gathering.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 12 th at 12:00 PM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8815 East Kemper Road, Cincinnati. Visitation will precede the Mass from 10:45 to 11:45 AM. Burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Central School in Ann's memory.
