Ann-Marie Carroll
65, of Delray Beach, Florida passed away unexpectedly at Delray Medical Center on Saturday, July 16, in the company of her three children. Born in Medford, MA, she was the only daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Strazzere) Aloisio.
Ann-Marie was the loving mother to Derek Vierra and his wife Sarah, Leah Carroll Catucci and her husband Nick Catucci and Taylor Carroll and partner Paul Cicchetti. She was the beloved "Grandmarie" of Bryce Vierra and Ruth Catucci. She is also survived by her four brothers and their wives, Jim and Mary Aloisio, Mark and Jane Aloisio, Joe and Alison Aloisio, and Roy and Dottie Aloisio as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ann-Marie was a great friend; she was admired by her colleagues; and loved by her family. She was a hilarious, adventure seeking woman who was formidable in her desire to learn, grow, and enrich her life and the lives of the people around her.
She graduated from Katherine Gibbs, and then, as a single working mother, went on to earn her associates and bachelors degrees. This is just one example of Ann-Marie's grit and fortitude. Her life was not always easy, but she found great pleasure in the everyday wonders of life: a glass of white wine with ice, dragonflies, reality tv, and being in the company of her family and friends. The experience of becoming a grandmother brought out the very best in her. She nurtured her grandchildren, lavished them with gifts and cards, and was in on all their jokes.
After working for nearly 40 years she finally achieved her dream of retiring to Florida where she lived by the ocean. She walked on the beach nearly every night and day. She had more bathing suits than would seem necessary for one human being. She channeled her lifelong desire for knowledge into volunteer work at the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center where she educated visitors about sea turtles and marine life conservancy.
We are shocked to have lost her so soon and so suddenly. She had an enormous amount of life ahead of her. Thousands of miles of beach to walk, decades of years to spend with her children and grandchildren, countless amounts of laughter to share with her many friends. We miss her.
There will be a private celebration of her life for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Gumbo Limbo Coastal Stewards & Nature Center of Boca Raton Florida (gumbolimbo.org).
