Ann Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sebrell Funeral Home on Apr. 14, 2025.
Ann Prichard Moore, a wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully April 11, 2025,
in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Ann was the daughter of Clyde and Marion Prichard and was born in
Clarksdale, Mississippi. She cherished the memories and friendships of growing up in the
small, nearby Delta town of Lula.
Ann graduated from Lula-Rich High School, where she played guard for the two-time Coahoma
County championship basketball team. She went on to attend Millsaps College, Ole Miss, and
obtained her Bachelors degree in history from McNeese State in Louisiana. She was a member
of the Chi Omega sorority.
Ann married Roy Fulton Moore Jr. on August 22, 1957, in Lula. They began their married life in
Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Pine Bluff, Arkansas, before returning to Mississippi. Roy and Ann
became the proud parents of Mary Shannon Moore in 1966. The family were active members
of First Baptist Church Jackson, where Roy and Ann served as Sunday school teachers for a
singles class; Ann also taught a class for internationals. Ann's love for Jesus and her deep faith
were apparent to friends and strangers alike.
Ann was a homemaker during Shannon's school years. She was a source of wise counsel,
encouragement, and always a prayer warrior for Shannon and her friends. After Shannon went
to college, Ann resumed her teaching career at Woodland Hills Baptist Academy. Subsequently
she taught at Jackson Academy until her retirement. There would be no disagreement among
Ann's countless friends that to know her was to love her. There might not be consensus over
whether Ann loved her students more or whether her hundreds of students loved her more.
Ann was the teacher who took each and all of her "sweet angels" under her special care,
especially those who needed extra attention and an assurance of their worth. A sneeze should
always bring to her students' minds her quick response, "God bless! And He does." Many a
parent has a letter from Ann in their children's keepsakes.
Her grandsons, Nathan and David, were a source of pure joy. Ann, most often accompanied by
Roy, never missed an event when Nathan and David were involved or participating in it; this
included everything from sporting events, school and academic functions, and church activities.
Nathan and David enjoyed spending time with Grandmother and Pop at their Little House in the
woods: shooting guns, playing in the creek, 4-wheeler riding, and eating her good cooking.
Trips to the fire and police stations to drop off cookies at Christmas are among great memories.
They fondly remember the way she made everyone feel important, even a stranger in the
grocery store.
Ann is survived by her daughter Shannon Dye (Hamp); grandsons Nathan Dye (Hannah) and
David Dye (Sydney); great granddaughters Ann Hampton, Elle, and Bailey Bradford Dye, and her
great grandson Benjamin Fulton Dye. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her
parents Clyde and Marion Prichard, and her sister Rebecca Peebles, mother of her only niece,
Ann Peebles Sisemore who survives.
A celebration of Ann's life will be held at 2 pm April 22 at the Chapel of Broadmoor Baptist
Church, Madison. Jody Schmelzer, whom Ann taught, and now the campus pastor at Pinelake
Church Oxford will be officiating the service. The family will begin welcoming friends to the
celebration service at 1 pm in the chapel.
Special thanks to her loving caregivers at the Orchard Rose Garden for taking such good care of
their "little southern lady," even making sure she had on her red lipstick when she could no
longer apply it herself.
Memorials may be made to Jackson Academy.

Mrs. Moore was my 9th grade teacher at JA. I adored her. I remember every time anyone sneezed she would say "God Bless You & He does". I say this to my kiddos still to this day 35+yrs later & think of her every time I say it.

Ann was my prayer partner for 3 decades. She brightened up Meredith and me every time we dined at primos for breakfast. She would say excuse me and leave the table and pray for a stranger eating breakfast. What a huge light who shined bright at all times. My prayers go out to all her family.
Xoxox,

Loved your mother so much. Was sharing your healing story today with someone. Was thinking about your mom when I saw she had passed from earth to heaven.
