Ipswich, MA - Ann J. O'Brien, 84, of Ipswich passed away peacefully at home with her beloved children by her side on April 20, 2024. Daughter of the late Pasquale and Georgianna (Todesca) Tofuri, and widow to the late Richard O'Brien, Ann was born in Winchester, MA and raised in Winchester, spending her summers at her family cottage on Great Neck. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1957, attended Beverly Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1960) where she trained to be a nurse. Ann later attended Emmanuel College, graduating with a bachelors of science in 1991.
After summering in Ipswich as a child, Ann fell in love with Great Neck and she and her husband, Rich, settled in Ipswich to raise their family. She worked as nurse throughout her life at various hospitals, including Cable Memorial, Beverly Hospital and retired from Salem Hospital.
Ann and Rich were truly best friends. They traveled the world, hosted amazing family parties and loved frequenting local restaurants. Most of all, they loved spending time together.
Ann is survived by: her children, Richard O'Brien and wife Tracy of Ipswich; Sheila O'Brien and husband Edward Dingman of Nanuet, NY; her sisters, Patricia Bicknell and husband Brian of Yarmouth, ME; Judith Shottes of Vero Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Christian O'Brien of Scottsdale, AZ (formerly of Ipswich); Jaclyn O'Brien of Ipswich; Adam Dingman of Liverpool, NY; James Dingman of Nanuet, NY; and her dearest friends: Nancy Parker, Ann Winter, Ann Wing, Annette Dube, Elizabeth Pope and Lorraine Gordan.
Ann's family is grateful for the wonderful care that she received at home from Aberdeen Home Care, Inc., Visiting Angels of Danvers and Care Dimensions.
Services for Ann are private. For those that wish, memorial contributions may be made to Care Dimensions Hospice, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or online at www.CareDimensions.org/giving.
