John Soffron, "The Spartan," a devoted family man and cherished friend, peacefully passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born on March 5, 1934, in Potamia, Greece, John's life was a testament to resilience, love, and hard work. Losing his father at a very young age, John formed an unbreakable bond with his mother and two sisters, always placing family above all. In search of greater opportunities, he emigrated to America in 1951, eventually becoming a proud U.S. citizen while always holding his Greek heritage and Orthodox faith close to his heart.

John worked tirelessly to build a better life for his family. From humble beginnings, his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Ipswich Sea Products for over 50 years.

John was the beloved husband of Georgia Soffron, his steadfast partner and the love of his life, with whom he shared 66 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their son George and his wife Ethel Soffron, their daughter Sia and her husband Ted Lezon, and their cherished granddaughter Cassandra Soffron and her husband Nicholas Bottari, all of Ipswich, MA.

He is also survived by his dear sisters, Toula and her husband Arthur Patsios of Watertown, MA, and Niki Zervas of Scituate, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply. He is now reunited in heaven with his parents, George and Efterpi Sofronas.

A true gentleman, John was known for greeting everyone with a smile, his sense of humor, kindness, generosity, and selflessness. His warmth and optimism touched all who met him. He loved playing cards, bowling, attending the races, and spending time at local coffee shops with friends. But above all, he treasured time with his family and his favorite Yorkshire Terrier, Rocky.

John's legacy is one of unwavering love, dedication, and strength. His impact on the lives of those around him will be long remembered, and his memory will live on through the family and friends he so dearly adored.

His Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 8 Lafayette Rd. Ipswich, on Wednesday, August 13 at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich, on Tuesday, August 12 from 5 to 7PM. Burial will be at New Highland Cemetery, Town Farm Rd., Ipswich. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's memory to Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 6, Ipswich, MA 01938.
