Ann Theresa Patte, a cherished soul known for her loving nature, selflessness, and passion for life, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 89, in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Born on September 3, 1936, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and later moved to Cleveland in the mid 1950's. Ann's journey through life was marked by her devotion to her faith, family, and community.
In 1957, Ann married the love of her life, Nicholas Patte, a native of DuPont, Pennsylvania. They lived in Brook Park, OH until 1985 when they moved to Lorain, OH. She and her husband quickly grew to love Lorain because it reminded them of the Scranton area where they both grew up. Together, they built a life founded on mutual respect and shared values. Ann's commitment to her Christian faith was unwavering, as she was an active and dedicated member of St. Anthony Parish in Lorain. Her involvement in the church extended to her role in the ladies guild, where she was known for her leadership and warmth.
Ann's service to her parish was multifaceted. For several years, she lovingly prepared meals as the cook for the parish priests, a role that allowed her to express her nurturing spirit and culinary talents. Her cooking was not just about nourishment but was a testament to her desire to care for those around her. She was happiest when hosting her family and friends. It was not uncommon for Ann to invite a friend over for a holiday dinner if they had no place to go.
Beyond her parish, Ann was a proud member of the Italian American Veterans (IAV), where she contributed her time and efforts to the ladies auxiliary. Ann and Nicholas could always be found in the kitching during club dances and dinners. Her dedication to planning and organizing club events was a reflection of her passion for bringing people together, creating moments of joy and fellowship.
Ann enjoyed getting to know people from all walks of life, easily making friends wherever she went. She was fun and had a great sense of humor. She had a way to always see the good in people and truly loved unconditionally. Nothing could compare to her love for being a wife, a mother, and grandmother.
Ann's presence was a beacon of light that touched many lives. She was known for her ability to listen, her gentle guidance, and her willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. Her selflessness was evident in every aspect of her life, from the way she raised her family to her interactions with friends and community members.
Those who knew Ann will fondly remember her for the love she freely gave and the strength of her convictions. She was a woman who lived by example, showing through her actions the power of kindness and dedication. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
As we bid farewell to Ann Theresa Patte, we celebrate a life beautifully lived-a life of devotion, generosity, and unwavering love.
She is survived by her children, Lisa (Donald) Root, Nicholas (Judy) Patte, Joseph (Sue) Patte, and Jennifer (Tracy) Hicks; grandchildren, Joseph, Hannah, Sarah, Jennifer, Natalie, Nicholas, Phillip, James, and Madeleine; and great grandchildren, Bailey, Brock, Logan, Mason and Sophia.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Nicholas Patte.
