Lorain- Janis E. DeSantis ( nee : Mitenbuler ), 99, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at her home in Lorain, Ohio.
Janis was born in Lorain, OH on August 3, 1926, to her loving parents, Gordon C. and Mary Ellen ( nee : Hatch ) Mitenbuler. She was a lifelong resident of Lorain.
She was a member of St. Mary Church in Lorain. Janis graduated from Irving School and attended Clearview High School until the age of sixteen, when she started to work full-time. She worked at Kutza Drug Store, Lipps Tea, China Store on Broadway, Lorain Banking Co. for over ten years, Production Planning at National Tube for two years, Central Bank, and for her brother-in-law, Peter DeSantis for over fifteen years. Janis loved traveling and dancing. She enjoyed caring for her many pets over the years and working in the yard. She treasured her life with her beloved, Joe.
Janis is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph V. DeSantis; and her parents, Gordon and Mary Ellen Mitenbuler; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Shulsky DiLuciano.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan- Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway Avenue, Lorain (440)-244-1961, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 6-8 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Mary Church, 309 7th Street, Lorain, OH 44052. Fr. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH. Online condolences may be sent using rsgfuneralhome.com
