Ann Elizabeth Pliska, born on July 14, 1942, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 with family by her side.
Ann’s journey began in Utica, New York as a cherished child of Sebastian and Sophie Penzimer. The youngest of four brothers and one sister, she learned the values of hard work and dedication that would later define her own family life.
Ann met her beloved husband, James Pliska, while working at General Electric, and together they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. In 1971, Ann opened Ann's Beauty Shop, a welcoming salon within their home in Marcy, New York, where her talent and warmth attracted many loyal clients who became friends. After residing for 6 years in Merrimack, New Hampshire, the couple built their forever home in Huntersville, North Carolina, where they continued to enjoy a beautiful life near their daughters and grandchildren.
A passionate cook, Ann took great pride in preparing Polish-style family recipes and experimenting with new dishes that brought family together, especially around the holidays. She also had a keen eye for antiques, decorating, and crafting, transforming her home into a warm and inviting space reflecting her unique style.
Ann is survived by her loving husband, James Pliska; her devoted daughters, Karol Cerosky and Susan Gregory, along with Susan’s husband Ben; and three grandchildren whom she adored, Julia, Kaelyn, and Riley. Their lives will forever be enriched by her kindness, creativity, and love.
She joins her parents and siblings in eternal rest, leaving behind precious memories for her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ann will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, North Carolina on Wednesday, January 7th at 11:00am. A reception will follow.
