Ann Ashley Stoneman, 81, after a courageous eight-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, spent her final weeks at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, VA with her husband by her side. Two of her sons were also present during her final hours, and the three witnessed her passing.
Ann was born on June 20, 1944 in Greensboro, NC, graduated from Greensboro Senior High School and attended Guilford College before receiving Associate Degrees in Accounting and Management from Wytheville Community College in 1989.
She was the daughter of Harry and Gladys Woesner. Her grandfather was a founder of Fisher-Harrison printing company in Greensboro. In her lifetime she worked as a bookkeeper for several companies including Fisher-Harrison and WBIG radio, and as a pharmacy tech at CVS and other pharmacies in Roanoke, VA, Minneapolis, MN and Lynchburg, VA.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, three sons, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was much loved by them and hundreds of other friends and relations. It can truly be said that she never met a stranger.
Her family would like to publicly thank all the nurses, other healthcare workers and staff at Virginia Baptist Hospital for the attention, care and support they gave her during her month-long stay there. It was obvious to all that she became much more than a patient to them. The outpouring of love to her and her family did not go unappreciated. Many thanks to them all.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
