Anna Marie Clark Adam, 85, of Olin, Iowa, formerly of Maquoketa, passed away Tuesday evening at UnityPoint St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Ann was born on November 29, 1939, on a houseboat on the bank of the Mississippi River in Clinton, Iowa. She was the oldest daughter of James Leroy and Gladys Viola Tracy Clark. She lived in the Jackson County, Iowa area until she was about 17, then her Mother and siblings moved to California. She graduated San Andreas (California) High School in 1958
This is where she met and married Fred Christopher Adam on January 1, 1959, in Minden, Nevada. They later divorced. To this union, four children were born: Christopher (Chris), Lynda, Rhonda, and Virgil. She is survived by three of her four children. Anna and Fred lived in many different places before moving back to Iowa in 1987, to be closer to family and friends. She has a host of family and friends in California, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, and Washington. She loved to visit with family and friends and was known by all as a wonderful baker of bread and rolls. In their early years, Fred and she would go square dancing on Friday nights in the summer and fall, and in the winter and spring, they would be at home or at friends' homes playing pinochle. She adored all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive her: Chris (Toni Niles Adam) Adam; their children, Amanda, Nikita, Thomas(April Hiner Adam)Adam "their children, Christopher, Anna, James, Rebel, Jacklyn and Max," Sara, "her children, Esmeralda and Isaac," Tabatha, "and her son, Tony," Heidi, Mariah, and Andrew; Lynda (Roy) Booker and daughters, Amelia (Jake Myers) "and son, Lumus," and Catherine; Rhonda (Ken) Gable, (and children, Jacob Bryant(and Denise Hellums Bryant) "and sons, Jason, Uriah and Tobias," and Teresa Bryant-Gable (Dusty) Lewis "and sons, "Skylin, Kaysin and Dakota." Daughter-in-law Kathy Kane Adam and children, Krystle (Tommy) Dearth, "and sons, Kayden and Kashton" and Kory; a sister, Donn Ann Clark Portz; and many nieces and nephews and friends and family. She has a new great-grandchild due in 2025.
She is preceded in death by her son, Virgil Adam, September 28, 2024; a great-granddaughter, Sapphire Adam, October 1, 2018; her ex-husband, Fred, on November 28, 2001; brothers, Wayne, Ronald, Jean, Harold, Jimmy, Rodney, Roger and Raymond; her sister and husband Judy (Robert) Portz; and brother in-law, Wesley Portz; parents, James Leroy and Gladys Viola Tracy Clark.

A Celebration of her life will be held from 12 to 4 P.M., Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the American Legion Hall, 106 East 2nd Street, Olin, Iowa.
