Anna Kathleen Askins passed from this life on March 28, 2025, due to rapidly advancing cancer and kidney failure.
Anna was born on July 15, 1961, to Donald W. Askins and Peggy Joyce (Corley) Askins in Shawnee. Anna went by her middle name, “Kathy”, throughout her childhood and for many years as an adult before going back to Anna, in her late 30’s.
Due to chronic health issues, Anna was unable to complete her education in Shawnee Public Schools. After receiving her GED, Anna studied at Oklahoma Baptist University.
In addition to her study of history and language, Anna found time to help with the Norwegian band, A-Ha’s, Fan Club Magazine.
Anna was able to travel with her parents on many trips around the US, including Hawaii. After the passing of her father, Donald, in 2000, Anna and her mother, Peggy, were active in their group at Liberty Baptist Church and, through another group’s Holy Land Tours, made two separate trips to Israel.
After her mother developed dementia, Anna became her full-time caretaker. Sadly, after her mother passed last year, Anna’s own health declined rapidly.
Anna was preceded in death by her father, Donald; mother, Peggy; and sister-in-law, Karen. She leaves behind her brother, Michael, and his sons: Thomas, Timothy and Anthony; two cousins, Monty Corley and family and Melisa King and family.
Services are pending.
In lieu of flowers, there is a GoFundMe account for her brother’s continuing medical costs. Thank you.
