Anna L. Burss, age 81, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. She was born on November 20, 1943 to the late Grady and Ona (Kenner) Pigg in Coleman, OK. Anna attended and graduated from high school, before marrying Manley Burss in 1961 and the Lord blessed them with three children. Their union of marriage lasted 58 beautiful years until he passed away.

Anna was a loving homemaker for most of her adult, always working on her vegetable gardens, and canning what she grew, or taking care of her many animals on their hobby farm. She also had a love for wildflowers, and had many types that would come up every year. Anna loved being outdoors and taking in the peace and tranquility of nature. She was a skilled seamstress and made many items of clothing over the years, as well as many sets of curtains! Anna had a strong faith in God, was very active in her church and over the last few years, had a great passion for Bible reading and studying the Word of God. While at Pine Crest Nursing Home, she spent time leading Bible studies and sharing God’s word with others. Anna would often say that the greatest blessing in her life was her grandchildren and said that “if I had known that they were so much fun, I would have had them first!” Anna was a funny and quick-witted woman, with a gentle and kind spirit. She never complained, was a strong person and had a positive outlook on life. Anna will be missed greatly, but the lives she touched and the sharing of God’s Word will live on through the people she had made an impact on.

Anna leaves behind her children: James Burss of LaCrosse, WI and Shelley (George) Mathwig of Oshkosh, WI, beloved grandchildren: Ashley Krueger, Jessica Krueger and Nathaniel Burss, precious great grandchildren: Hank, Alaina and Saleen, nephew: Jerry Pigg, nieces: Judy Allen, Marilyn Johnson, Becky Young and Glinda Attebery, as well as cousins and many good friends and neighbors: Al and Charlotte Alexander & family, Gary and Dorothy Drury & family and John and Diane Osypouski & family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Manley, stillborn son: Todd Burss, granddaughter: Lindsey Burss, brothers: Lloyd and Floyd Pigg, sisters: Nellie Taylor, Ruby Krebbs and Desa Pigg, as well as all in-laws, some aunts and uncles and most cousins.

The funeral service for Anna will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Testament Church in Merrill. Pastor Paul Hohman will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service, also at the church. Burial at the Gleason Cemetery will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna’s name may be made to the New Testament Church.

A special thank you to the staff at Pine Crest Nursing Home for the care and support that they have shown to Anna and her family over the years, and the lifelong friendships that were made with both staff and other residents.

The service will be recorded and posted under her obituary on the funeral home website for future viewing.
