Anna Mae Charlton

Anna Mae Charlton, age 85, of Drakes Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday August 8, 2025, with her family by her side after a long hard fight with several health issues.

Anna Mae was born on May 17, 1940 in Allen County, Kentucky to the late Albert Williams and the late Rebecca Sledge Williams. She graduated from Allen County High School in 1961 and married Wendell R. Charlton on August 11, 1965. Anna Mae was a homemaker, farmer, store keeper. She was a loving mother to her two sons and a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and multiple neighborhood children. Anna Mae was the owner and operator of Drake Community Store and was a long-time member of Martha Chapel Church.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Wendell R. Charlton; two sisters, Sarah King and Shellie Lowery; brother, Delbert Williams, and two daughters-in-law, Eva Charlton and Darlene Charlton.

Anna Mae is survived by her two sons, Kent Charlton (Anita) and Brent Charlton; five grandchildren, Darrell Ray Charlton, Grace Ann Charlton, Michael Holleman, Landon Turner and Olivia Embry; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Wendell Williams and Kenneth Williams (Eunice); several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.

Funeral services for Anna Mae Charlton are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 1pm with burial to follow in Martha Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, August 12 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Wednesday from 10:00am until time of service at 1:00pm.
