Dan Calvert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel - Bowling Green on Feb. 26, 2026.
Dan Calvert, age 73, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026 at Hospice House. He was surrounded by family and friends. In the days leading up to this death, his loved ones took turns holding his hand and sharing their favorite memories of Dan. He would have loved the celebration of his life.

Dan was born on June 18, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Herbert and Dorothy Calvert. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1974 with a B.S. in Agriculture and Animal Science. He married the love of his life Regenia Mitchell in 1972 while attending WKU. They couldn't wait to start a family and their son Ryan meant the world to them. Though Dan was an avid hunter, his favorite role was that of "gramps". Dan and Regenia loved spending time with their grandchildren and took them camping every summer with their camping club.

Dan was a Veterinary Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and retired from Midwest Veterinary Supply after twenty-three years of service. He was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church, where he previously served as a deacon, choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Senior Adult Council member. He was one of the most outgoing people, even though he claimed to be an introvert. His family often joked that he could take a trip to a different country and he would still end up recognizing someone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Dan would drop everything to help someone in need. His elaborate stories will be missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his love of the Lord and his willingness to help others.

He is survived by his loving wife Regenia Calvert; his son Ryan Calvert and wife Deidra Calvert; his grandchildren Jackson Calvert and Hailey Calvert; his siblings Ronny Calvert, Nancy Calvert, Dwight Calvert, Jeff Calvert, and Judy Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Calvert; his mother, Dorothy Calvert; and his sister, Beverly Calvert.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 1 and 9:00 am - 11:00 am on Monday, March 2 at Living Hope Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Living Hope Baptist Church with the burial to follow in Bowling Green Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice House of Bowling Green.

Yesterday

I know no one in his family knows me but I met Dan around or before 2006 when I worked at a veterinary clinic in Madisonville ky. He was always sooo nice always enjoyed talking to him. My grandaughter had came in one day and he asked if he could take her picture, he told me how pretty he thought she was she was around 12-15 months. I left that clinic in 2010 and the dr I worked for opened her own clinic. And once again had the priveledge of talking to him at my new clinic. Hated to hear he was retiring, but it was so much worse to hear he was sick. So very sorry for your loss, I know he will be missed by all his family and friends, I certainly missed him as our representative. Denise morris
