Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Quitaque on Oct. 24, 2025.
Flomot - Anna Beth Clay, age 86, passed away on October 24, 2025 in Turkey, Texas. Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday November 1, 2025 at the Flomot Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Quitaque.
Anna Beth Tanner Clay was born February 25, 1939 in Motley County, Texas to Austin and Lillie (Morris) Tanner and was the fourth of five children. She grew up in Flomot, Texas, and her most remembered stories from growing up were singing with her cousins, playing half court basketball, meeting her sweetheart and becoming Valedictorian of her graduating class from Flomot High School in 1957.
After high school, she attended Draughon's Business School in Lubbock, Texas, where she made many friends and fond memories. She married Joe Ike Clay on March 20, 1962 in Brice, Texas, and they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where he was stationed in the U.S. Army. After a move back to Texas and a brief stint in Douglas Arizona, Joe Ike and Anna Beth made their home on the family farm in the community of Folley and have lived there for the past 56 years.
Anna Beth was a loving wife, mother and Nana. She took pride in her role of raising her children, caring for her family, and keeping her home. The grandchildren would say they remember her doing what she enjoyed most - feeding them. She always had pancakes at breakfast and macaroni and cheese at mealtime. She was also a talented artist who enjoyed painting, especially painting rocks with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Most of all, Anna Beth's faith was the most important thing to her. She was a lifelong member of the Flomot Baptist Church where she played the piano for over 40 years. She prayed for her family faithfully, and lived her life with the goal of honoring God. She was not scared at the end of her life, and was looking forward to the open arms of Jesus. We are so thankful she can be with her creator now, fully restored and worshipping.
Anna Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Austin L. Tanner and Lillian B. Morris Tanner, sister Geneva (Bo) Martin, and brother Charles Tanner.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joe Ike; her four children Lori Kleibrink (Kevon), Larry Clay, Tina Carson (Pat) and Julie Edwards (Neal). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Kelsey Neinast, (Brett). Tanner Clay (Whitley), Kyler Kleibrink (Mesha), Caden Edwards (Sydney), Sarah Roberson (Mason), Walker Carson, Karlee Kleibrink, Ryleigh Waldo (Jake), Parker Carson (Ellie), Jaxon Edwards (Hannah), and Laney Edwards; and nine great-grandchildren: Logan and Cooper Neinast; Konlee, Collins, and Whitten Clay; Major, Boone, and Summit Kleibrink; and Jett Edwards.
Her sisters Joy Barham, Carolyn Ewing, sister-in-law Wayde Clay and many nieces and nephews also survive her.
