Anna "Soderquist" Clayton

Anna (Soderquist) Clayton, 93, of Newington, widow of Ralph D. Clayton, passed away Wednesday (November 19, 2025) at Jefferson House in Newington. Born in Sweden, Anna was a former New Britain, Newington and Venice Florida resident until moving back to Newington in 2019. She was a graduate of New Britain High School and the Nursing Program at New Britain General Hospital where she worked for 30 years and retired working on the post-surgery floor in 1992. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in New Britain. Besides family being the most important thing to Anna, she enjoyed music, square dancing, bowling, meeting new people and caring for others.

Surviving is a son, David Clayton and his wife Bridget of Ormond Beach, FL; two daughters, Susan Alessi and her husband Steven of Berlin; and Ann Walsh and her husband Jay of Newington; seven grandchildren, Chris Walsh and his wife Amanda; Brittany Lalime and her husband Kevin; Adrianna Solek and her husband Chris; Andrew Alessi; Elizabeth Alessi-Fazzino and her husband Mike; Celine Harris and her husband Chris and Deanna Clayton; 6 great grandchildren, Nash, Lainey, Cameron, Rory, Charlie and Cyrus. Besides her husband Ralph and her parents Oscar and Esther Soderquist, she was predeceased by a daughter Janet Clayton and a sister Sylvia Herberts.

A Memorial Service for Anna and her husband Ralph will be held at First Lutheran Church in New Britain at a later date. Calling hours will be held at Carlson funeral Home in New Britain, also at a later date. Private burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
