Grace was born on August 15, 1938 to the late Clarence and Gladys Angelle Boudreaux. She was the fourth of thirteen children. On February 23, 2023, at 6:15 p. m., she transitioned from care at Amelia Manor Nursing Home to join her parents, her two sons, and eight of her siblings in eternal rest.
In July 1965, Grace married her life partner, Marvin Colar.
Grace worked hard and she played hard. She was intelligent with a strong, bubbly personality. A vivacious force to be reckoned with, Grace lived a full life and she lived it her way.
At an early age, Grace left school and began working in a variety of nonclinical positions at the now defunct Lafayette Charity Hospital. Always determined to complete her education, she went on to earn her LPN degree and begin her career as a licensed practical nurse. For more than 40 years, she cared for and touched the lives of many people. She worked at Charity Hospital, Tyler Mental Health Center, University Medical Center and local nursing homes. She was a member of the Licensed Practical Nurses Association of LA.
Grace was a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was a proud member of KPCLA Ct. 76 Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, IHM Church Choir, and KPC National Convention Choir, Altar and Rosary Society. For many years she was active in the Lafayette Mardi Gras Association.
Left to mourn their loss yet cherish her memories are her husband, Marvin Colar; her siblings, Anvin Boudreaux of Lafayette, LA, Claudette Booth of Los Angeles, CA, Linda Philpot (Jimmy) of Stockbridge, GA, and Mercedes Colomb (Paul) of Lafayette, LA.; her sister-in-law, Gloria Boudreaux of Lafayette, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Waiting to welcome Grace to her heavenly home are her parents, Clarence and Gladys Angelle Boudreaux; her sons, Lorbert Carmouche and Karl Bryant Siner; her brothers, Overton Boudreaux, John Boudreaux, Olin "Angel" Boudreaux, Carol 'Tatty" Boudreaux, Lawrence Boudreaux, and Larry Boudreaux; and her sisters, Little Sis Boudreaux and Jean "Teetah" Boudreaux-Boudreaux.
