Anna DeMasters Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Cedar City on Jul. 31, 2024.
Anna Victoria DeMaster our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother sister and friend passed away July 26, 2024 at the age of 88. Anna was born April 24, 1936 to Gustave Gordon Bolinder and Victoria Clark Bolinder in Salt Lake City, Utah. Anna was the youngest of ten children. Anna's Mother, Victoria died when Anna was born. Anna was raised by her Aunt Viola and Uncle Clarence Frazier who later adopted her when she was nine years old. They resided in Terra Bella, California. Anna attended Terra Bella Elementary School, Porterville High School, Porterville College and Fresno State University. She graduated from Fresno State University with a Bachelor's degree and a Life Diploma in Elementary Education.
Anna married Harold Curtis Moore on September 14,1957 in Porterville, California. They had four children, Suzann Elizabeth Moore, Paul Frazier Moore, Phillip Harold Moore, Jefferey Kevin Moore. Anna's marriage to Harold ended in October 1964 through divorce.
Anna taught third and fourth grades along with living skills for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. She loved to cook and bake and serve her students and staff for 33 years at Alta Vista Elementary School in Porterville, California. Anna served twenty years as a Resource Teacher at Alta Vista.
Anna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a bite to eat or a place to sleep. Along with raising her four children, it was not uncommon to find several extra people (teachers) sleeping in a bed or eating at the dinner table. She was known to many as a second mother. She loved children of all ages, and you would find her in the middle of activities that involved children.
On November 9, 1968, Anna married Marshal Gwaine DeMasters. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Marshal came into the marriage with four children from a previous marriage, Gwenda, Alan, Kathy and Orlas DeMasters. Anna and Marshal had one daughter, Marshanna Rose DeMasters.
Certainly, while proud of her teaching degree, her primary career was her family, where she excelled to a remarkable degree. Mother to Suzann Morton (William deceased) of Porterville, California, Paul Moore of Cedar City, Utah, Phillip Moore (Claudia, deceased) of Mendocino, California, Jefferey Moore (Kathryn) of Cedar City, Utah, Marshanna Beaver deceased (Allan, deceased), Gwenda Sevier (Leon, deceased) of Noble, Oklahoma, Allen DeMasters of Heber City, Utah, Kathy Simpson, deceased (Randy), and Orlas DeMasters (Jennifer) of Cedar City. Utah. Anna was also a grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to over 100 children.
Anna was always friendly to everyone and showed deep interest in her children's and grandchildren's lives. She was a deeply committed member of the LDS Church and it was the foundation of her life. She happily served in any and every calling asked of her as she taught in many capacities, a teacher in the Sunday School, Primary President, Relief Society Teacher, Visiting Teacher and Activities Committee. She also served her community, Daughters of Utah Pioneers and Iron Mission Camp.
She loved her husband dearly, they were best friends, devoted parents and eternally in love. They retired early and had many fun vacations. She loved music and they attended Panther Band concerts and piano recitals of their grandchildren,
Anna will be missed by us all.
