Anna Miele Obituary

Obituary of Anna Elizabeth Miele
Anna E. Miele, age 96, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Tobias "Toby" Miele, with whom she had shared over 47 years of marriage.
Born in Fishing Creek, MD on August 5, 1928, she was one of ten children of the late Martha and Major Travers. Anna grew up in Fishing Creek before moving to Massachusetts where she would spend the rest of her life. While visiting her brother who was in the service, Anna met the love of her life, Toby, and they were married in 1947. They settled in East Cambridge and raised their two children, Linda and Paul. They were members of St. Francis of Assisi Parish for many years. Anna lived in East Cambridge for 61 years and then moved to Burlington, MA in 2008, to be closer to her children. She then became a member of St. Margaret's Parish where she attended Mass weekly.
Anna was an incredibly hard worker, retiring at the age of 74 as a Quality Control Supervisor. She carried this need for perfection into her home and the meticulous care she took in making sure it was a clean and welcoming space. In her free time, Anna loved nothing more than simply being with her family, where she doted on her husband, children, and grandchildren. On Sundays everyone would gather at Anna and Toby's house and they would have her famous cooking together. She was an incredible cook, especially Italian food, and her loved ones always looked forward to getting some of her famous meatballs, lasagna, or baked ziti. Anna was the caretaker of her family, and when her father in-law, husband and mother grew ill, she fell into the role of caregiver seamlessly. There was nothing she wouldn't do to make sure they felt loved and cared for when they needed her most. Her selfless nature and innately caring spirit made it easy for Anna to be there for anyone who needed her. Whether it was her children, grandchildren, or extended family. Anna's home was always a safe and loving place for all. While she spent many years concerning herself fully with the needs of others she always made sure at the end of each day she indulged herself with a bowl of ice cream. More than anything in this world, Anna loved her family, and the care she took to create lasting memories with each of them will last throughout their lifetimes.
Surviving Anna are her children, Linda Battite of Burlington, and Paul Miele and his wife Tricia of Burlington; her grandchildren, Susan Best of N. Reading, and Tamara DelRossi and her husband Jeff of N. Reading; her great grandchildren, Braxton, Mila, and Kash DelRossi; sister Evelyn Mottolo, as well as many other dear in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, November 19th from 10:30 am until 12 pm at St. Margaret's Church (St. Veronica Parish), 111 Winn St., Burlington. Anna's Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the church at 12 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Anna's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 320 Nevada St. #201, Newton, MA 02460.
