Anna Valentine "Val" Pomaville, a beloved wife, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023 in Bay City, MI. Born on February 14, 1933 in Lake Charles, LA, Val was a gentle and faith-filled woman, known for her kindness and unconditional love. Val was the youngest of five children, born to parents Amos J. Derouen and Anna (Howerton) Derouen. She grew up in Louisiana, surrounded by the warmth of her family and the unique culture of her hometown. Val met and married her husband, Noel J. Pomaville, who was stationed in Louisiana with the Air Force, in 1953. The pair relocated to Linwood, MI in 1955. Val was preceded in death by Noel (1997), her four siblings, Amos Jr. Derouen, Rose Marie Rusinowski, May Higdon, and Jules Derouen and two sons Donald and Richard Pomaville.
Val was a source of love and strength for her children, Ramon, Steven, Susan, Carol, Richard, Glenda, Anna M., Alan, Gregory, and Sheila. Val was also a cherished "Aunt Vallie" to many nieces and nephews. The joy that Val found in her grandchildren was immeasurable. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren: Allan, Angie, Adam, Noel, Ellie, Josh, Nicole, Noelle, Danielle, Kayla, Nick, Jenna, Christiana, Madeline, AJ, Amanda, Abbie, and Raymond Michael. Val was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, with three more on the way, and the exciting anticipation of her first great-great-grandchild. Her love for each of them was boundless and her pride in their accomplishments knew no limits. Val met her sweetheart, Dar Thompson in 2013, their relationship brought great joy and companionship to both of their lives.
Val's interests and hobbies were as varied as they were heartfelt. She found peace and tranquility during visits to state parks and nature drives, often sharing these experiences with her loved ones. She was an avid classic movie fan, finding comfort and joy in the timeless stories and characters. Above all, Val was a woman of deep Christian faith. Her belief in God's love and grace was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and comfort. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
