Anna June Smith

Anna June Smith, aged 67, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on September 7, 1958, in Virginia, Anna was a beacon of joy and kindness to all who knew her.
Anna was the cherished wife of Bill Smith, with whom she shared 52 years of unwavering partnership and love. Together, they built a family founded on strong values and unconditional support. She was a devoted mother to Tonya (Scott) Woodard, Jamey (Terry) Smith, David (Kelly) Smith, and Daniel (Kim) Smith. Her role as a grandmother was one she embraced with all her heart, leaving behind precious memories for her 12 grandchildren: Tyler Woodard, Tawney Lykins, Blane Smith, Cody Smith, Kody Geers, Tanner Smith, Kasey Woodard, Hannah Smith, Zacharih Woodard, Jose' Chavez, Selina Chavez, and Jessiah Woodard. The joy of her life was further multiplied by the arrival of her great-grandchild, Coleson Lykins.
Anna was the loving sister to Cathy (Billy) Dixon, Rick (Frankie) Morgan, and Billie Jo Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel Lee Morgan and Billie Jean Johnson Dean.
Anna dedicated many years of service to the Berea Board of Education as a custodian. Her colleagues and the many students whose lives she touched will remember her fondly.
Anna's interests reflected her love for life and family. She was an avid scrapbooker, capturing the moments that painted the story of her family's life. Her scrapbooks are cherished heirlooms, filled with memories that will be treasured for generations. Anna's happiest moments were spent surrounded by her family, whether it was a simple gathering at home or a family trip to the beach. The Outer Banks held a special place in her heart, and she found great joy in the serenity of the ocean. Anna's ability to soothe any baby earned her the affectionate nickname "The Baby Whisperer," a skill that brought comfort to many young families.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Berea Evangelistic Center with Pastor Jeff Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Isaacs Cemetery in Rockcastle County.
