Anna Jewel White

4/19/33-11/21/25 92 Years old

Born in Driggs, Arkansas, to Dewey and Freda Shelton, Anna was the second to youngest of four siblings (Suzie, Eva, Dorothy, and Harlan). She spent her early years in Driggs, attending school at Driggs Elementary, then moving on to Paris High School. She then worked as a secretary after graduation, later moving to Washington in 1957.

While in Washington, Anna worked as a secretary at the Smith Tower in Seattle with her friend Lori, who had traveled with her from Arkansas. She later left the Smith Tower to work another secretarial job at Boeing. Here, she met her first husband, William Atkinson (Bill), in 1958. Anna and Bill married on 1/31/1959; they were wed for 14 years before divorcing. They had two sons, Daniel Atkinson and David Atkinson, and later adopted their daughter, Kristi Brown.

Anna then met her late husband, Robert White (Bob), in 1973 at the Owl Tavern in Puyallup. They were married on 12/21/74 for 15 years until Bob passed in 1989 from lung cancer. She never remarried.

Anna was an avid seamstress. If you needed a Singer sewing machine, it wouldn't be too far out of reach! She always kept a flock of well-loved chickens, who were spoiled daily with a tray of fresh-baked corn bread. You could always find her fridge well stocked with cans of Mtn. Dew and a large pot of coffee with plenty of cream and sugar at the ready. Ladybugs, chickens, and giraffes were some of her favorite animals.

She was also a very active member in her community, volunteering at the local community center, serving as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, and working with the citizens' patrol.

Anna is survived by her sisters Suzie of Driggs, AR., Dorothy of Ft. Smith, AR., Sons Daniel Atkinson of Nome, AK., David Atkinson (Annette), adopted daughter Kristi Brown. Favorite granddaughter Kelsey Atkinson (David Ryan), and grandson Christopher (Lexi), and a handful of great-grandchildren.

Burial services will take place at Rosedale cemetery (7801 Rosedale St. NW, Gig Harbor WA. 98335) on 12/5/25 (Friday) at 1:00pm. Family members and close friends are encouraged to join us in remembering Anna's life.
