Preston Earl Tart, age 94, passed away peacefully after a life devoted to faith, family, and service. He was born on July 20, 1931, in Athens, Arkansas, to Henry Hugh Tart and Josephine Edmunds. The fourth of ten children, Preston grew up on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a playful, mischievous spirit.

In 1951, Preston enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 20 years in a variety of assignments. He earned his GED while enlisted and particularly treasured his role as a crew chief for the F-104 Starfighter. During his military service, he married Retta Grace Crowther on November 24, 1955, in Eugene, Oregon. They were later sealed on May 9, 1961, in the Switzerland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Preston lovingly adopted Grace's son, Marty, and together they welcomed four additional children: Sharon, Doug, Patrick, and George.

Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1971, Preston settled with his family in the Puget Sound region. He pursued higher education through night classes and earned his bachelor's degree while establishing a successful insurance business, which he operated for more than two decades. Alongside Grace, Preston faithfully served two missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a devoted temple worker for over 40 years, continuing his service until the final days of his life.

Preston was preceded in death by several siblings, his son Marty (2011), and his beloved wife, Grace (2014). He is survived by his four children, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of dedication, integrity, and love.

The viewing will take place at 12:00PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Preston's memory by spending meaningful time with your loved ones.
