Annabelle McIntosh, age 88, of Waltonville, formerly of Salem, was called Home to the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Annabelle passed at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois surrounded by her beloved children, grandchildren, and her companion.
Annabelle was born on December 30, 1936, in Odin, Illinois to Ransom and Frances Hicks. She married the love of her life, Gerald E. McIntosh, on March 13th, 1954, in Salem, Illinois. Together they shared 37 beautiful years of marriage, a bond deeply rooted by love, faith, and devotion, until Gerald's passing on January 27, 1992.
Annabelle's life was enriched by simple joys, and she adored spending time with her beloved companion, Ernie Martin of Waltonville, and her family, gardening and planting flowers, cooking meals that brought people together, traveling, and of course cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Her life reflected the values she held dear. A faithful servant of Christ, she was a proud member of Waltonville Community Church, where her kindness and spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. She had a servant's heart, always putting the needs of others before her own, and she led her family with love, wisdom, and grace.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she found her greatest joy in her children: Ricky McIntosh of Dix, Vickie Bailey (with husband Doug) of Salem, Dennis McIntosh (with wife Tami) of Iuka, and Sandy Collins (with husband Scott) of Carterville. She was proceeded in death and reunited in Heaven with her parents, Ransom and Frances; her husband, Gerald; her son, Gary; and her grandsons Daniel and Matthew.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Karen McIntosh, grandchildren Gary, Mike (Meagan), and great grandchildren Mackenzi, Madisyn, Abigail, Maleeya, and Madilyn. Son Ricky McIntosh Sr., grandchildren Ricky Jr., Stephanie, Alyssa (Darren), and great grandchildren Joseph, Ruby, Rylee, Alaina, Levi, Sierra, and Briar. Daughter Vickie Bailey (Doug), grandchild Jason Ullery (Candice), great grandchildren Makenzie (Kyle), Samantha, Chelsey, Kieran, Aidan, Sophia, and Alixandria, and great-great grandchildren Keagan and Khloeann. Son Dennis McIntosh (Tami), grandchildren Alex (Josie), Nathan (Chelsey), Kelsey, and great grandchildren Emmisen, Aylah, Aubree, Novah, Spencer, and Hudson. Daughter Sandy Collins (Scott), grandchildren Kari (Sean), Savanah (Chris), Nathan, and Courtney (Rick), and great grandchildren, Audrey, Dolli, and coming soon, Baby Raisor.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Annabelle will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, with a time of visitation at 11am and a service at 12pm with Pastor Tim Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow directly at Sandy Branch Cemetery in Alma.
Annabelle adored flowers, or other memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association and will be accepted at the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.CrouseFH.com.
Annabelle's legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. As she rejoices in her eternal home, her family takes comfort in the promise of God's everlasting love and the assurance that they will be reunited with her one day.
