Anne Avery passed away on November 16, 2025, in Port Neches, Texas. Born on December 22, 1935, in Holmes County, Florida, Anne lived a life marked by grace, kindness, and devotion to her family and faith.
Anne had a distinguished career as the office manager at Computer Business Service, from which she retired. Her dedication to her profession mirrored her commitment to her community. A proud and active member of Procter Baptist Church in Port Arthur. Anne was well-known for her faith and service. She taught Sunday School to the 70's and above members, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she instructed and served.
Characterized as classy and graceful, Anne was both generous and thoughtful, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. She embraced life with an open heart, enjoying hobbies such as knitting and tending to her beloved flowers. An avid reader, she cherished the world of literature.
Anne was also proud to have been the President of the PTA for Port Arthur and a lifetime member, a testament to her commitment to the youth of her community.
Anne's legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her sons, James T. Avery and wife, Hope of Plainfield, IN; Paul H. Avery and his wife, Leighann of Groves, TX; and Jeff Avery and wife, Marie of Troy, MO. Her grandchildren, Justin Avery and wife, Allyson; Ashley Avery; Marnie Oberholtzer; Matthew Avery; and Emily Bass and husband, Logan, along with her great-grandchildren, Juniper Fowler, Linus Avery, Lula Avery, Dawson Oberholtzer, and Daniella Oberholtzer, carry forward her spirit of love and care. Anne is also survived by her siblings, Marion Taylor and James Leavins and wife Pansy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, WC Leavins and Katie Leavins, her spouse, James W. Avery, her brother, William Leavins, and her great-grandson, William Fowler. Each of them held a special place in her heart and will be remembered fondly.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches on November 25, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, concluding with interment at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
Anne Avery's life was a celebration of love, service, and commitment to her family and faith. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know and love her.
