Chester Roy Jourdan, Sr., fondly known as Roy, was born on April 19, 1939, in Bessmay, Texas, and departed this life on November 17, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas. A devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and proud great-grandfather, Roy lived a life that resonated with family values, boundless love, and a passion for the simple joys of life.

Roy spent an esteemed career of 33 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator, Mechanic, and Welder, showcasing his dedication and work ethic. He was not only a skilled tradesman but also an accomplished woodworker, a talent he honed and shared for over 40 years while traveling to various craft shows. His hands, capable of both crafting and building, were a testament to his self-sufficiency and versatility as a true jack of all trades.

Education formed a part of his foundation, as he attended Jasper High School before proudly serving in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he embraced responsibilities and adventures that enriched his life—he was a man whose memories brimmed with heartfelt experiences. Roy loved to recount stories of trips to the beach, where he found joy in feeding the seagulls, and he derived great pleasure from baking pecan pies, showcasing his keen culinary skills. A true horticulturist at heart, he nurtured the largest lemons and oranges, sharing his bounty with family and friends.

Hunting and fishing was Roy's great passions—both bass fishing and deep-sea fishing brought him immense happiness. Time spent at the lake was precious to him, especially when he felt the thrill of driving his boat and taking his children and grandkids water skiing. Camping trips with his family were yet another cherished delight, exposing them to the wonders of nature and togetherness.

Roy leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Virginia Faye Jourdan of Port Neches, who stood by his side through life’s many endeavors. He is survived by his son, Chester R. Jourdan, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Port Neches; his daughter, Linda Faye Taylor and her husband, Brian of Jasper; and his daughter, Debbie Richardson and her partner, Jo Viator of Nederland. Roy's legacy will continue through his nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, along with six grandpups who always brought a smile to his face.

To his extended family, Roy is survived by his sister-in-law, Christene Jourdan of Jasper, and brother-in-law, Joe Wells of Silsbee. He was also a beloved uncle to a host of nieces and nephews who savored the warmth and wisdom he imparted.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Carson and Ruby Ann Jourdan; his brothers, Herman Jourdan, Ernest Jourdan, Ray Jourdan, and Wayne Jourdan; and his sisters, Eloise Jourdan Mills and Linda Jourdan Wells. He was also preceded in death by his half-sister, Louise Perrin.

The family invites all to honor Roy's memory during a Graveside Service scheduled for November 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, located at 618 Block Street, Port Neches, Texas. Friends and family will come together to celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love and laughter that shall not be forgotten. Roy Jourdan’s spirit will forever resonate within the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
