Anne Bartholome Obituary

Anne Lorraine Bartholome

July 6, 1950 - January 29, 2025

Kansas City, Missouri - Anne Lorraine Bartholome passed away on Wednesday, January 29th.

Born on July 6th, 1950, she has joined her parents, William and Virginia, her brother Bill, sister Ginny and niece Monica in heaven.

Anne was one of twelve siblings. She attended St. Teresa's Academy and graduated from Rockhurst College. She completed her Masters in Library Science at the University of Missouri and worked as a librarian for many years.

She is remembered and loved by her siblings for her intense intellectual curiosity, her passion for literature and her gift for creative writing.

During her twenty years in San Francisco, she immersed herself in the culture, arts and natural beauty of the city. She especially enjoyed her work at the Exploratorium introducing visitors to the world of science and art.

After her years in San Francisco, she lived in New Orleans and Puerto Rico, where she edited an English language newspaper.

She returned to Kansas City to re-connect with family. For twenty years she was the primary caregiver for her friend Bill.

Anne loved debating and dancing. Her ideal party would be an evening with family indulging both these passions.

An outgoing, gregarious woman, Anne enjoyed the numerous places she lived and the many friends she made along the way.

Anne is survived by her sisters Joan, Grace, Pat, Cathy and Helen, her brothers Lou, Peter, Paul and Dave, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation and a celebration of Anne's life will be held at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Avenue, in Kansas City on Monday, February 3rd at 6 o'clock in the evening. Burial will be at Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Avenue, on Tuesday, February 4th at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Kansas City Public Library in Anne's memory at www.kclibrary.org

I will miss Anne's curiosity, kindness, and sense of humor. The last time I saw Anne we were on a walk together in the Rose Garden with Joan, Monica, Pat, Peter, and Brigid. She noticed an unusual pink stone in the Japanese garden and started Googling immediately. She had to find out what it was! I loved my dear, sweet, smart aunt. xo Ginna

Anne, I am still broken-hearted that you are not here. You were my best friend, dearest Sister, and we shared so much history. You are in my heart and thoughts forever. Happy Trails to you!

A sweet memory is captured in the photos of Anne and her dear sister Catherine celebrating their summer birthdays, Catherine's on the fourth of July, Anne's one year later, on July 6. They continued to be soulmates throughout their lives, with remarkable adventures in California as young women. All of Anne's family holds Anne in our hearts and will continue to celebrate her life at each and every gathering of the Bartholome clan.

Some of the sweetest memories of Anne captured in photos, were the summer birthday parties celebrated with her dear sister Catherine, born on the Fourth of July, a year before. They were truly soulmates. We will always hold a special place in our hearts for this remarkable sister and aunt.
