Anne Ehrmann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Silverton Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Toms River on Jun. 17, 2025.
Anne Ehrmann, 84, of Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025. Born in Newark and raised in Irvington, NJ, Anne was one of seven children of William and Elizabeth McManus. Her childhood was filled with joyful memories-tap dancing, sleigh riding down Rich Street with her siblings, and a strong sense of family that remained central to her life.
Anne attended Catholic elementary school and graduated from Irvington High School in 1959. Not long after, she met the love of her life, Harold Ehrmann. The couple married in 1963 and went on to raise three children. In 1971, they moved to Brick, NJ to be closer to family and build a warm, welcoming home that would become the site of many cherished gatherings-legendary July 4th barbecues, milestone birthdays, and even their daughter's backyard wedding.
Anne built a successful career in the insurance industry, culminating in the founding of her own agency, A&L Insurance, in 1984. Her tireless work ethic, dedication to her clients, and entrepreneurial spirit were a true inspiration. She continued to run the business with heart and integrity until her retirement in 2006.
In 2003, Anne and Harold moved to Barnegat, NJ to enjoy their retirement years. There, they formed close bonds with their cul-de-sac neighbors and continued their love of entertaining through monthly dinners, lively block parties, and the creation of new holiday traditions.
Anne had an infectious sense of humor and a love for laughter that brought light to every room she entered. Known for her quick wit and sometimes risqué jokes, she was the heart of every family event. Her personality was as vibrant as it was unforgettable.
She had a passion for games-especially cards. A self-declared "queen of cards," Anne taught her children poker, blackjack, and rummy, and hosted countless game nights over the years. Whether at family gatherings, Friday night bingo, or seated at a blackjack machine in Atlantic City, Anne always played to win and to have fun.
Above all, Anne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her unwavering support, sage advice, and open heart made her a pillar of strength to all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold; her siblings John, William, and James McManus; Elizabeth Seigel; and Ruth Olsen. She is survived by her loving children: Susan Polgar and husband Michael, Jennifer Updale and husband Nels, and Craig Ehrmann and wife Colleen. Anne was a proud grandmother to Jessica, Kyle, Nils, Ryan, Aiden, and Emily, and a joyful great-grandmother to Joshua. Her brother Dennis McManus and many cherished nieces and nephews also survive her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Anne's life at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ, on Thursday, June 19th, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. A brief service at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery will follow at a later date.
Anne's warmth, laughter, and love leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.
