Anne Griswold went to her Heavenly home on July 25, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Juanita Pafford of Milan, TN, and her brother, Gordon Pafford of Yorkville, TN. She was born in 1943 in Gibson, TN and grew up on a dairy farm, loving the outdoors, 4-H, riding horses and playing basketball. Her senior year in high school her parents moved to Bay Minette, AL, where she graduated. After graduation she attended Union University in Jackson, TN. After finishing her first year she transferred to Nursing School in Memphis, TN. She later moved to Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Oklahoma City, OK, graduating in 1965. Anne met Ben Griswold her senior year of nursing school. She and Ben were married on March 13, 1966 and enjoyed 59 years of marriage.
Anne joined the Air Force Reserves as a nurse and retired three years later as a 1st Lieutenant. She worked as a surgical nurse for surgeons, Dr. Everette Cooke and his son, Dr. Bob Cooke. Retiring after 38 years, Anne said she was just going to dig in the dirt. To get better at digging in the dirt Anne attended the OSU Extension, receiving a Master Gardener certification in 2003. She received the Master Gardener of the Year Award in 2010. Gardening, sharing plants, and raising butterflies was her joy. She loved volunteering in the food pantry at the Urban Mission for many years. Anne was also President of Delta Pi of ESA, a philanthropic sorority. She enjoyed being able to serve many families as she worked receptions at Crawford Funeral Home. Anne was a long-time member of Henderson Hills Baptist Church.
She had many things she loved, but God was always first in her heart. Anne loved her husband, Ben, he was her rock and joy in life. She loved her family and people. Anne loved to make cards to send to family and friends. She loved her son, Ben, his wife, Claire, and her two granddaughters, Kara and Abbi of Olathe, Kansas. They were such a joy in her life. She also loved her stepdaughter, Tami Ottinger, of Springfield, Oregon.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the incredible care and attention shown to them by the team at Integris Health Edmond, in particular, Madeline Bentley, Melissa Brooks, and Kelley Killman.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anne's name to The Wounded Warriors Program.
