Anne Carilia Jean Preval

Anne Carilia Préval (née Jean) was born on September 6, 1925, in Ennery, Artibonite, Haiti, to her father, Hercule Jean, and her mother Victoire Rincher. Anne Carilia was the youngest of six children. Her siblings were Auguste, Egamille, Samson, Leanna, and Tergelie.
In 1942, Anne Carilia went on to marry her late husband, Saint Pierre Antoinier Préval, a pastor and city official in Ennery. Together they raised ten children: Wesner, Cluvia, Micheline, Clunie, Jean Mary, Rene, Tony, Rodh, Ruth, and Mimerode. They were married for over 30 years before Saint Pierre Antoinier died from failing health and went to be with the Lord.
Anne Carilia was not only a devoted Christian but also a benevolent homemaker and a matriarch. She enjoyed creating amazing creations as a talented seamstress and embroiderer. Later in life, Anne Carilia frequently visited her family in the United States before permanently making the U.S. her home in 1995, settling with her daughter, Clunie, and her family in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She finally became a naturalized American citizen in the year of 2017.
Sadly, Anne Carilia Preval passed away peacefully at home amongst her family on August 31, 2025. She is survived by four of her children: Clunie Lacriete, Jean Mary Préval, Ruth Préval, and Mimerode Préval, as well as 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and countless great-great-grandchildren who will carry on her memory and legacy.
