Anne Neville Blackshear Dillon

Anne Neville Blackshear Dillon, a beacon of warmth and light, passed away peacefully on July 29th, 2025, in the town of Cynthiana, KY, at the age of 84. Born on November 10, 1940, in Cheyenne, WY, Anne's radiant spirit and zest for life planted roots that could be felt across the heart of Kentucky and California, where she spent the majority of her vibrant years.
Anne's legacy is carried on by her devoted family. She is survived by her cherished husband, Jake Elvove, whose companionship provided her comfort and joy in the latter chapters of her life. Anne was a loving mother to her two sons, James and Christopher Dillon, and to her daughter, Kathy Johnson. She was a doting grandmother to her four grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, Jack, and Logan, all of whom blossomed under her nurturing guidance and she also left behind numerous close friends and a large "Kentucky" family. Although preceded in death by her parents, Pope and Geraldine Baker Blackshear, and her first husband, James Dillon, her memory lives on as a testament to the love and strength she instilled in her family.
Anne's thirst for knowledge was evident in her years spent at the University of Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor's degree. Her intellectual pursuits led her to a fulfilling career as a librarian, a role in which she devoted herself to the service of others, helping to expand the horizons of countless individuals through literature and learning. Anne was an active member of her community, taking part in numerous associations and contributing her time and talents generously.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Anne nurtured a love for the natural world. She found solace and delight in the outdoors-walking her dogs, hiking, and playing tennis. Nature's canvas inspired her as an artist, and she captured the beauty of the world around her through painting, leaving behind a colorful mosaic of her perspective.
Anne's indomitable spirit, generosity, and love of life touched all who knew her. Her memories will be treasured like the soft light of a Kentucky sunset, gentle yet awe-inspiring. Anne's impression on the world will not be forgotten as she leaves behind a legacy of love and the gravity of a life well-lived. Her footsteps in the sands of time leave an enduring imprint for her family, who will continue to walk the path of kindness and resilience she had laid before them.
