Annette J. Bertone

Annette J. Bertone, age 84, of Ocean View, DE formerly of Arnold, MD passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at her home.
Annette was born in McKeesport, PA on March 4, 1941 one of eleven children of the late George McCaslin and the late Bertha (Cutsen) McCaslin. She proudly served her country in the United States Army as a nurse from 1963-1965, where she received an Army Commendation Medal for taking care of General MacArthur at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Annette worked in the healthcare field as a registered nurse prior to her retirement in the mid 1990's. She was the matriarch of her large family and was the glue that kept the extended family together. Annette loved the time she spent with her family and was so proud of her grandchildren. Annette was a parishioner at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, DE and loved living near the beach. In her free-time she enjoyed tap dancing and thrifting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 10 siblings, Dorothy, Ella, Bill, Jack, Patricia, Eva, Shirley, Sonny, Barb and Joey. Annette is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Vincent Bertone; a son, Vinny Bertone and his wife, Holly; two grandchildren, Samantha Bertone and Allison Bertone and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Annette's name to the Millville Volunteer Fire Company, 35554 Atlantic Ave., Millville, DE 19967.
