Annette Elizabeth Chester Adams, age 81, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, made her heavenly transition, Tuesday August 5, 2025, with her family by her side.
Annette was born on January 19, 1944, in Madison, Georgia, the daughter of the late Tommie Chester and Amy Elizabeth Chester. She was the fifth born of eight children. She graduated from Pearl High School in 1961 and later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Valley State University. She dedicated over 35 years of service as an accountant with the Atlanta Housing Authority, and after retirement, continued working for more than 20 years as a stockroom manager at Marshalls of Buckhead.
Annette met her sweetheart, Lt. Willie M. Adams, II, and it was love at first sight. He knew immediately Annette would be his wife and they were united in holy matrimony. This union was blessed with two loving daughters, Melinda and Willinda (Gill). Annette and Willie loved each other and enjoyed many years of precious moments and adventures together as a family.
A woman of deep faith, Annette loved God and her church family. She was a faithful member of Word of Faith serving joyfully in the WOF choir, Children's Ministry for many years, and attending countless church activities and events. Known for her wisdom, Annette offered encouragement and guidance through life's challenges, both big and small. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, dancing the "shimmy," playing card games, making others laugh, especially her grandchildren, and taking her beloved annual trips to Florida. She cherished life and lived life to the fullest.
Family was always Annette's top priority. She went above and beyond to ensure her children excelled in every area of life. Cooking was one of her passions, and her pork chops, cornbread, collard greens, pancakes, and her children's all-time favorite-warm, buttery toast with jelly-were legendary. She welcomed everyone with love and had a gift for connecting with people. Her generous heart and nurturing spirit drew children from all around, and she loved them as her own.
Annette was a lifelong learner and able to recall anything, especially when it came to science and mathematics. She could solve math problems within seconds. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the value of hard work and determination.
Annette adored her children and grandchildren, making every occasion a reason to celebrate. Her grandchildren, as she would call them, "The A-Team," were her pure light and joy. Her life was a true testament to faith, love and family. She was a proud mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her jovial spirit will forever leave a legacy, and her laughter, compassion and generosity will continually remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed.
Along with her parents, Annette is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Lt. Willie M. Adams, II, brother, Calvin Chester, sisters, Lillian Jackson, Rudene Turner, nephew, Alvin Mathis, and niece, Karen Fountain.
Annette leaves her legacy in the lives of her two children, Melinda Adams and Willinda "Gill" Adams-Jones (Duran); three grandchildren, Annah Elizabeth Jones, Aiyannah Elize Jones, and Ariannah Eliza Jones; siblings, Yvonne Colquitt, Eleanor Chester, Gloria Fountain, and Gladioli Williams (John), nephew, Ken Chester, and Fred Jackson, nieces, Cynthia Jackson-Williams (Richard), Valerie Turner, Erica Turner, Keisha Washington (Omah), Angela Smith, Julia Mitchell (Albert), Kimberly Fountain, and Kristie Fountain-Williams (Michael), and a host of cousins, great nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
