Annette Elizabeth Jacob (Buergelin), 76, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025.
She was born May 2, 1949, in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late John and Annie McNab. Annette graduated from Saint Mary’s Primary School and Glasgow Technical College before immigrating to the United States at the age of 19 when her father accepted a position with Allison Transmission in Indianapolis.
Annette met and married Michael Buergelin in 1968, and together they raised three children. After Michael’s passing, she later married David Jacob.
She held various jobs throughout her life but was most proud of her 30+ years as a service manager with Safeway Foods. Her most treasured role, however, was as a homemaker, dedicating herself fully to her family. From her famous homecooked meals to driving her children to countless activities, she was the heart of the Buergelin home.
A devout member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Annette’s faith and kindness touched all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Michael Buergelin and David Jacob; sister, Margaret Pressel; and daughter, Susan Buergelin.
Annette is survived by her sons, John Buergelin (Rosie) and Christopher Buergelin (Khija); grandchildren, Taylor and Hudson Buergelin, Aaron Emery (Kaitlyn), and Michael Kramer; and great-granddaughters, Saylor and Soryn Emery.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46226. A Celebration of Life will follow at Eagle Nest Clubhouse, 8075 Teel Way, Indianapolis, IN 46256.
Annette will be remembered for her unwavering love, devotion to family, and the warmth she brought into every room.
