Annette May Wimsatt “The Bunny Bread Lady”, 89, of Owensboro passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Carmel Home. Annette was born on March 27, 1936, in Whitesville to the late Joe and Mary Wilkerson May. She was a charter member of St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church since 1960, were she served on several ministries. Annette was known for the stuffed animal booth at the picnic and would supply Bunny Bread to any activity.
Annette completed a bookkeeping course at Brescia College. She was employed at Medley’s Distillery, SW Anderson downtown part-time and then retired from Bunny Bread after 25 years as a bookkeeper and then Thrift Store manager. Many people knew her as the “Bunny Bread Lady”. For over 40 years, she enjoyed playing monthly Bunco and attending TOPS activities.
In addition to her parents, Annette is also preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Wimsatt in 2021; her sisters, Mary Alice Martin, Catherine Settles, Carmelia May; brothers, Joe May Jr., George May, Genie May, and William May.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four children, Kim (Mike) Skluzacek of Kansas City, MO, Dawn (Randy) Spencer of Owensboro, Greg (Vickie) Wimsatt also of Owensboro, and Eric Wimsatt of Clarksville, TN; eight grandchildren, Summer (Robin) Woolard, Jamie Davis, Brad (Laura) Skluzacek, Sara Skluzacek, Alisa (Josh) Reeves, Haley (Logan) Eitel, Michelle Davidson, and Taylor (T.C.) Collins; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Maggie Edge of Dundee; and many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the caring staff at the Carmel Home.
The funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 29, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with same day visitation at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. A private burial will be in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery in Whitesville.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Pius X, 3418 Hwy 144, Owensboro, KY 42303.
