Nana Ree Chapman

Nana Ree Onstott Chapman, 82, of Philpot, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Daviess County to the late Oba and Minnie Mae Cook Onstott.

Mrs. Chapman earned a master’s Degree from Western Kentucky University and retired after a 30-year career as an English teacher in Philpot and at Apollo.

She enjoyed reading, flowers, quilts, hand sewing, shopping for antiques, and more recently, coloring in “grown-up” coloring books. Nana was a dedicated supporter of her daughter’s career and loved attending many basketball games with her family and Chapman relatives. Mrs. Chapman liked the simpler things in life and treasured the heritage of living on the family farm for most of her life.

She was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church and former member of Friendship Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Philip “Dale” Chapman in 2021 and an infant sister and brother.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by her daughter, Lisa Chapman; a brother, Larry Onstott; niece, Kimberly Underhill; and a nephew, Larry J. Onstott.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 5 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
