Martha “Elaine” Glenn, 77, of Owensboro, passed away on November 21, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. She was born on April 29, 1948, to the late Lawrence and Georgia McCarty, and from her earliest days, her life was marked by a quiet strength, sincere kindness, and steadfast faith.
Elaine was a devout Catholic who served the Lord with a faithful heart. Her faith shaped her life, guided her decisions, and gave her a steady foundation through every joy and challenge. She was a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph Academy, where she worked to pay for her tuition and developed a special relationship with Sister Blanche Rita Bickett. Later, Elaine worked as a Teller at Owensboro National Bank, where she was known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and genuine care for the people she served. Elaine loved her job and the conversations she shared with customers, many of whom became treasured friends.
Elaine had a heart for telling stories and an ear for listening to anyone who needed to talk. She cherished good conversation and was always ready with thoughtful advice, whether you asked for it or not. She was the most beautiful woman in the world to those who loved her, carrying a kindness and warmth that could brighten any room.
She enjoyed gardening, yard work, and spending time outdoors. Mowing was her quiet refuge, and she often said it was her and God’s time. Elaine also loved trips to Florida, where she found joy in sunshine, scenery, and time spent with those she loved. She shared an especially close and irreplaceable bond with her twin sister, a connection that brought her comfort, laughter, and lifelong companionship.
Above all, Elaine loved her family deeply. For fifty-nine years, Elaine was married to the love of her life and best friend, Walter Gene Glenn. Their marriage was a testament to devotion; two hearts intertwined through decades of love, laughter, and shared life. Together, they built a home where family came first and where love was always abundant. Elaine’s presence brought comfort, her faith brought peace, and her love brought joy.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Francis McCarty.
Elaine is survived by her husband; sons, Bobby Glenn (Nickie), Jamie Glenn (Shelly) and Scott Glenn (Jennifer); grandchildren, Benjamin, Alexandria (Tyler), Jacob (Stevie), Austin (Jacqueline), Nicole (Justin), Jordan (Kelsey), Blake (Marissa), and Logan (Emily); eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Loraine Hayden (Bob), Patsy Wright (Mike), Larry McCarty, Jr. (Judy), Randy McCarty (Judy), Margie Dowdy, and Kenny McCarty (Bonnie), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Funeral Mass will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Prayers will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Cemetery.
